For forty years, UN-Habitat has been working in human settlements throughout the world, focusing on building inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable villages, towns, and cities of all sizes with the aim of improving the quality of life for all in an urbanizing world.
In the past six years, UN-Habitat has been active in over 90 countries around the world. The organization coordinates its work from its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, and from four regional offices, in Latin America and the Caribbean in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Asia and the Pacific in Fukuoka, Japan, Arab States in Cairo, Egypt, and Regional Africa also based in Nairobi, Kenya. UN-Habitat also has several liaison and information offices around the world.
