Establishment Of Habitat Programme Support ( Hapso) In Abuja, Nigeria

1. Technical support, logistics and backstopping in the preparation of Road-Map for the Housing and Urban Development Sector.2. Upscale capacity of staff of the Ministrty.3. Provide technical support to the Ministry and the National Council on Lands, Housing and Urban Development for development and implementation of National programme4. Mainstream Energy Efficiency and Conservation into the Building Code and construction.5. Undertake Street Naming and House Numbering as a strategy for enhanced planning6. Provide technical support for developing capacity for disaster management and disaster Risk Reduction strategies, especially for displaced people and refugees arising from flooding, terrorist acts and communal conflicts.7.Promote the Habitat Open University methodology in Nigeria and building linkages with knowledge Development Partners.8.Facilitation of Nigeria's participation in the JPO of UN-Habitat for training and development of young professionals on human settlements.9. Technical support in preparing for the  Habitat III Conference in 2016, the Sessions of the World, Urban Forum, the post 2015 debates and other activities in UN-Habitat and relevant development agencies10. Support the Ministry to establish a well-equipped Library and Learning Centre to provide updated documentation, information,research,trending activities in UN-Habitat and relevant development agencies.11. Promote enhanced Advocacy and Sensitization on human settlements at all levels.12. Promote and build strong and sustainable partnerships with all stakeholders in the sector to jointly and effectively address the urban challenge13. Research and publish periodically, the HAPSO Urban Policy Brief series, for the purpose of providing analysis and guidance for policy making on key contemporary Housing and Urban policy issues with substantial input from HQ MRD and other Divisions.
