Promoting Low Emission Urban Development Strategies In Emerging Economy Countries

Generally, the project's vision is to contribute to bringing about a transformation inunsustainable development pathways in project cities and through wider dissemination: by re orientating urban economic development onto a green-growth path, enabling leap-frogging to clean and green technological investments, and contributing to the creation of a new paradigm of urban development which meets the needs of the urban poor while being fit for the resource demands of the twenty-first century'- The project seeks not only to enable target cities to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, but also to contribute to the scaling-up, mainstreaming and integration of transformative low emission actions at all scales. While the project will focus on mitigation, this issue cannot be normatively separated from adaptation. Guidance given to cities through the present project will contain specific"docking points" to maximize synergies with adaptation actions.
