Bossaso Port And Roads Infrastructure Upgrading Puntland State Of Somalia

800x600

During the past years, the situation in the Somali regions called mostly for recurrent humanitarian and early recovery interventions, generally addressing the same problems over and over again. With the ongoing trend of stabilization, there is an important opportunity for sustainable development, if strategic investments in to basic infrastructure and services are made. Such investments are also crucial to strengthen the path of peace-building and economic recovery in places that enjoy relative stability.

The identification of the present project's components is the result of a long consultative and participatory planning process between UN-Habitat/Somalia and the Puntland authorities, both central and local. The rehabilitation of the Bossaso port and urban road system is widely supported and recognized as key priority for the city and the region (see attached letters of endorsement from various Puntland authorities).
