Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE This project will improve health status and learning environment and strengthen the institutional and technical capacity of school management and communities to improve access to safe drinking water and sanitation at the two schools in Kenya.Specific Objectivesa. Improve standards of school hygiene by creating a better awareness of basic hygiene practices among the school pupils and teachers.b. Provide one rooftop rainwater collection system and one  46m3 ferro-cement storage tank at each of the two selected schools for an estimated 1,800 school pupils and teachers.c. Provide two improved sanitation facilities (each with four doors) at each of the schools for the estimated 1,800 school pupils and teachers.d. Strengthen efforts to demonstrate the effectiveness of rainwater harvesting systems as a source of safe drinking water to schools and communities.e. Build local capacity amongst partner communities on construction of appropriate water supply and sanitation provision technologies and proper management for sustainability.f.
