Emergency Shelter Relief For Flood Affected Families In Colombo And Gampaha Districts In Western Province, Sri Lanka

The purpose of the Project is to provide emergency reliefs of  life-saving shelter and NFI assistance to 93,480 vulnerable and extremely vulnerable flood affected returnee households in Colombo and Gampaha Districts. With the intervention, 1) 130 homeless flood affected returnee households are provided with temporary shelter assistance2) 82 severely flood affected communities receive assistance for life saving environmental clean-up, basic repairs to shelters and restoration of basic sanitation facilities (targeting 300 households or 1,140 persons per GN Division which will benefit a total of 93,480 persons)3) 13,500 vulnerable flood affected returnee households are provided with NFI kits (60% of teh most vulnerable segment of the affected communities)UN-Habitat will forge partnerships with IFRC and RDF for the implementation and in close collaboration with GoSL counterparts, Local Government Authorities and the affected communities.
