Catalytic Support To Peacebuilding In Sri Lanka

The project aims to address land tenure related issues of the retrunee IDP households in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka. Plot surveying will address boundary issues for the target households. These households will receive government certified survey plans, which is a first step towards obtaining legal land tenure doumentation and title registration. For households who have already been issued with survey plans, this project will facilitate the issuance of legally valid land tenure documentation and title registration. Issuance of legally valid land tenure documentation will contribute to sustainable return for conflict affected communities by improving their access to reconstruction and development assistance.  UN counterparts of the project  include UNDP and UNICEF, while the  national and sub-national counterparts include the Survey Department, Land Commissioner's Department, Department of Land Settlement, Registrar General's Department, the "Bim Saviya" Secretariat, The District and Divisional Secretariats and affected communities.
