Niger State Urban Technical Support Programme

The purpose of this project is to provide technical expertise to the Niger State Government to implement the New Urban Agenda through the development of a sub national urban policy for the state along with integrated and territorial plans for Minna and Suleja Emirates, with particular attention being paid to capacity enhancement, peer to peer learning to enhance performance of the different stakeholders. Advisory services on urban-rural linkages and smart city strategies with particular reference to youth, gender and human rights issues will be undertaken.

The development of the state urban policy and the integrated plans for Minna and Suleja Emirates will largely transform their social, economic and environmental conditions of Niger state's urban population by promoting safe and habitable cities in Niger State where the benefits of sustainable urbanization including strengthened legislative/regulatory frameworks, improved infrastructure services, enhanced human and economic capacities and inclusive governance processes. It will ensure safe and habitable cities Niger state cities.
