The project has been developed in alignment, consideration of the following policies, strategies and plans and will augment their implementation; additionally, the project also meets national standards explained in the full project document:
* Mongolia’s National Development Strategy
* The Nationally Determined Contribution: has identified a need to conduct disaster risk assessments at local and sub- national levels and to enhance human capacity to address local climate change impacts, to which this project responds.
* National Action Programme on Climate Change (NAPCC): focuses in five strategic objectives, of which 4 are relevant for this project.
* Green Development Policy 2014-2030: emphasizes the need of settlement plan in accordance with climate change and resilient sanitation, which this project also responds too.
* 2010 National Programme on Water: The project will address this under the Component 1 and 2. The project will also address the achievement of Section 3.4 stating “Introduce advanced technologies for proper utilization and conservation of water resources and recycling and treatment of used water; implementation of comprehensive flood prevention measurements”.
* The Ulaanbaatar Master Plan 2030
* The Flood Risk Management Strategy of Ulaanbaatar City: this project will address some of the key strategic directions, recommendations and target areas including Reduce flood risk through resilient urban development, land use and waste management, protection of social infrastructure and strengthened utility services.
* Environmental and Social Safeguards of Adaption Fund (E S)
* Adaptation Fund Gender Policy (GP)
* The UNDAF for Mongolia 2017 -2021
